
Eleanor Josephine Medill Patterson, more commonly referred to as Cissy Patterson, was born to Robert Wilson Patterson and Eleanor Medill in Chicago. Cissy lead a very productive and prominent life, as she followed in her father's footsteps as the Editor for Washington Herald. She married and divorced twice. Her first husband was Count Josef Gizycki, who kidnapped their daughter Leonora while having marital problems. Their divorce struggle lasted 8 years. Cissy's second husband was Elmer Schlesinger. Cissy died at the age of 63 due to "cumulative effects of alcoholism."
